The questions most new students have.
Absolutely! Many people start yoga with limited flexibility. Over time, yoga helps to alleviate stiffness and improves flexibility by lengthening muscles and increasing your range of motion. Practicing in a heated room can be especially beneficial.
Nope! Yoga is for everyone, regardless of fitness level. Regular practice will help strengthen, tone, and reshape your body. Come as you are!
For best results, aim to practice yoga 3 to 4 times per week. Beginners may benefit from practicing more frequently to develop muscle memory and proper alignment. Many students practice 3–5 times per week, but there's no limit. Just be sure to stay hydrated.
Our hottest classes, Hot Hatha and Power Vinyasa, run at about 105°F with 30% humidity, hotter than most hot-yoga studios. It is the hottest room in Tacoma, and we are proud of it. Not every class runs that hot: barre and sculpt are warm, and Barre (unheated) and Simply Yin have no heat at all, so you choose how much heat you meet. This environment promotes flexibility and maximizes the benefits of yoga, aiding in detoxification and preventing overheating.
The heat makes muscles more elastic, allowing for safer, deeper stretching. It promotes sweating, which detoxifies the body, enhances blood and oxygen delivery, speeds up the breakdown of glucose and fatty acids, and provides a great cardiovascular workout. Plus, it feels great to sweat it out!
Barre, Sculpt, and Pilates classes focus on strengthening smaller stability muscles, which complement yoga by supporting the larger muscle groups. This combination enhances overall strength, balance, and flexibility.
Results can vary, but with consistent practice you'll notice physical and mental benefits relatively quickly. The key is maintaining a regular practice that fits your schedule and goals.
Yoga can improve many health conditions and is often recommended by doctors as a form of physical therapy. It's always a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider before starting a new exercise routine, especially if you have a specific health condition.
Please consult with your doctor first. Our waiver requires that all participants have been examined by a physician within the past six months. Your health and safety are our top priorities.
To ensure you have a spot in your favorite class, please preregister. If your plans change, no worries. Just cancel at least 4 hours before class to avoid a fee. Late cancellations and no-shows will incur a $25 fee. You can register up until 30 minutes before class starts. Our doors open 10 minutes before class and lock right at the start time, so be sure to arrive early. We can't wait to see you on the mat!
