Forced air warms the room. Infrared warms you. Most studios run one or the other. Here you get both, and the hottest room in Tacoma. Take a class and experience the difference.
A hot room from the moment you arrive.
Panels warm you to the core and keep you sweating once class is done.
Sixty minutes, and you don't need to take a class or be a member to book one.
SHY offers a variety of classes for every level: heated Hot Hatha and Power Vinyasa, Warm Barre and Warm Sculpt, unheated Barre, and Simply Yin. Whether you are after heat, strength or stillness, there is a class for it, and every one of them welcomes first-timers.
Held postures in a fully heated room. Builds strength and alignment one posture at a time, at a pace that welcomes beginners.
A continuous, heated flow that links breath to movement. Bring plenty of water.
Small, precise movements and long holds at the barre in a gently warmed room. Low impact, easy on the joints.
The same barre class with the heat off. The gentlest way into the studio, and a favorite on recovery days.
Strength conditioning with weights and body-weight work in a warm room. Expect good music and a real workout.
Long-held postures close to the floor, no heat, designed to nurture the body's connective tissue. The class to take when everything is tight.

Your first hot class will be easier if you know what's coming. Three things that help:
Enough time to sign in, find the shoe rack, fill your bottle and lie down before anything starts. The room is already hot; give yourself a few minutes in it.
A large bottle, a towel for your mat and a second one for you. Mats and towels are at the desk if you would rather travel light the first time.
Sitting down is not quitting. Take a knee, take the whole pose off, lie flat if the room gets loud. Every teacher here would rather you stayed than pushed.
